EAST Lothian’s MP Martin Whitfield visited Musselburgh Grammar School where pupils are continuing their support for the global education campaign ‘Send My Friend to School’.

The Labour politician spoke to pupils in Modern Studies.

Mr Whitfield has been a strong supporter of the campaign which promotes the right of children across the globe to have an education.

Last year he took hundreds of campaign posters produced by local children to 10 Downing Street to hand in to the Prime Minister.

He was invited back to Musselburgh Grammar to review the pupils’ latest work on the campaign and take away their posters to pass on to the Government.

Mr Whitfield said: “I want to thank Musselburgh Grammar school for inviting me in again to chat to pupils about their work on the brilliant Send My Friend to School campaign. It’s a really important campaign to raise awareness about the right of children globally to access education and attend school.

“I was really pleased to find out more about the activity modern studies pupils there have undertaken on the topic and view their posters promoting the campaign.

“I’m proud that so many schools in East Lothian have supported Send my Friend and done their bit to help promote the right to an education for all.”
