CALLS regarding a potential case of hare coursing near Gifford are being investigated by police.

Officers received two calls from separate members of the public in relation to two men believed to be involved in the illegal act at about 6.45pm on Monday.

A spokesman for Police Scotland told the Courier: “Both informants reported seeing a greyhound/lurcher type dog run out from fields on to the roadway, where it was closely followed by two males within a blue Skoda Fabia estate.

“The dog was then placed within the rear of this vehicle before the males drove off.”
