A YOUNG girl has braved the chop and donated her hair to a cancer charity.

Ten-year-old Maci Love, of Steading View, Tranent, decided to cut her hair and raise funds for the Little Princess Trust after two people she knew were diagnosed with cancer.

Mum Nikki said: “My auntie has just finished her treatment for cancer and Maci’s best friend’s dad recently passed away from cancer. He had lost his hair due to the treatment.

“This has really affected her and she came to me saying she wanted to do something.

“She has always had long hair, so she didn’t need to grow it anymore. My friend cut it for her. She was totally fine about it – I think because she made the decision herself it made it easier for her to just sit down and have her hair cut short.”

Maci, who attends St Martin’s Primary School, set up a GoFundMe page which has already raised £320 for the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs out of real, donated hair to children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

Nikki added: “Our whole family is so proud of her. She’s such a star.”
