RESIDENTS at Carberry Residential Home near Musselburgh have enjoyed a step back in time to relive ‘the good old days’ thanks to RemPods bought by the Walk With Scott Foundation.
The pop-up reminiscence rooms have included a seaside scene, vintage tea room and living room from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.
Designed to capture a memory in time, the RemPods were donated to the people of East Lothian by the Tranent-based foundation and others replicate a cinema, garden shed and old-style railway carriage.
The ’50s, ’60s and ’70s living room spurred Carberry residents into chatting about the news and what was happening in the world today.
They were delighted that the television showed news footage from the three decades.
Other topics screened include celebrations of the royal family, celebrities and current affairs.
In the tea room, afternoon tea was enjoyed and residents listened to music on the old-style radio. An added attraction was the chance to knit and crochet.
When the seaside RemPod came to the home, an alfresco barbecue was also organised for residents.
Alison Grant, the home’s spokesperson, said: “Our residents loved it and sat for hours chatting and laughing about the good old days.”
