A HIGH Street shop owner has 10,000 reasons to celebrate after clinching a dream holiday.

Teresa Sear, along with husband Dan and children Abi and Beth, are getting ready to swap Haddington for a fortnight in the Maldives after winning a competition.

Teresa, who has owned greetings card and gift shop Expressions on the town’s High Street for about five years, told the Courier that the family could not wait until the holiday in October.

She said: “It is somewhere that is totally different to where you would usually go.

“It is so different it will be a real experience with snorkelling, seeing sharks, stingrays and all kinds of fish.”

The amazing holiday to the island nation came about after Teresa entered a competition through her work.

All independent stores that placed an order for Second Nature’s new products by the end of January were entered into a holiday prize draw.

The top prize was a £10,000 holiday and Teresa, who lives in Haddington, was shocked when she received a phone call to confirm that her name had been pulled out of a hat and she was the lucky winner.

Teresa and Dan, both 44, enjoyed their honeymoon in the tropical Indian Ocean country, off the coast of Sri Lanka, 11 years ago.

The couple will fly out with 12-year-old Abi and Beth, 10, from Glasgow in October.

A stop-off in Dubai is followed by a flight to the Maldives before a sea plane transfer to the island.

Teresa said: “We are just back from a holiday in Devon and that was to be the main summer holiday this year.

“We found out we would be going on this amazing holiday and Devon felt really boring in comparison and we just kept thinking about the Maldives.

“The girls are just so happy.”
