A PRESTONPANS man broke into a woman’s home in the town and used a stolen bank card to take cash from an ATM.

Kevin Edwards, of Longdykes Road, broke into the home of the woman at Burnside before making off with the bank card, a quantity of cigarettes and cash.

Edwards then took £380 in cash using the card at the Scotmid store on Redburn Road and at the Co-op outlet located at the town’s Links shopping centre.

The 42-year-old admitted the two offences when he appeared on indictment at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Monday.

Sheriff Nigel Ross released Edwards on bail and deferred sentence to next month. Edwards admitted breaking into the Burnside home and stealing a bank card, cigarettes and cash on September 11 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to using the bank card bearing the name of the woman at two supermarkets in Prestonpans on the same date.
