TEN of the county’s top restaurants, hotels and suppliers are in the running for national awards.

The Food Awards Scotland take place later this month at Glasgow’s Marriott Hotel, with the country’s top chefs and restaurants among those battling it out for prizes.

East Lothian is represented in seven categories at the ceremony, with three restaurants up for the Restaurant of the Year (South-East) award.

The Waterside Bistro and Mazzoli Italian Kitchen, both Haddington, are joined by Gullane’s The Main Course and seven other rivals.

Meanwhile, The Loft Café and Bakery, in Haddington, and Gifford’s Lewis and Clarke Artisan Kitchen are in the running for Café/Bistro of the Year (South-East) and Linton Hotel and Steak House, East Linton, is up for the Hotel Restaurant of the Year (South-East) prize.

Poonthais, in North Berwick, is one of nine shortlisted in the Best Oriental Establishment category while Alandas Gelateria, also based in the town, is in contention for Dessert Outlet of the Year.

Finally, Musselburgh’s JK Thomson, is shortlisted in the Restaurant Supplier of the Year and East Coast Organics, of Boggs Holdings, is up for the Restaurant Choice Supplier of the Year.
