A SECTION of East Lothian’s busiest road will be shut each night for the rest of the week.

Resurfacing works are taking place on the westbound carriage of the A1 between Gladsmuir and Tranent.

Motorists will be diverted off the A1 at Gladsmuir before re-joining the road at the Bankton junction.

The roadworks are due to take place each night from 8pm to 6.30am. They resulted in particularly heavy traffic through Macmerry and Tranent on Monday evening. The eastbound carriageway is open as usual.
