AN INVESTIGATION is under way after a 55-year-old man died suddenly on his boat in Dunbar harbour.
The man, who has not been named, was aboard his boat in the harbour at about 10.35pm on Thursday evening when UK Coastguard paged volunteers to an incident in the area.
Coastguard teams from Dunbar and North Berwick attended, with Dunbar’s RNLI inshore lifeboat also launched moments later to attend to the boat moored in the harbour.
The crew recovered the casualty from the boat but, although Scottish Ambulance Service were also on scene, the man was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Gary Fairbairn, Dunbar lifeboat coxswain, said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the man’s family at this very sad time.”
Police Scotland were conducting inquiries into the cause of death.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
