AN UNUSUAL sign has got Haddington residents scratching their heads, as drivers entering the town via Dunbar Road are now welcomed to ‘Hadingdong’.
A picture of the ‘new sign’ – a sticker covering the town's name on existing sign welcoming drivers to Haddington – was shared on social media yesterday (Tuesday) and was greeted with a mixture of confusion and humour.
One person commented: “I think it’s a great name”, with other agreeing, saying: “Well that’s what it’s called from now on.”
Others were wondering where it came from, with some blaming the bell ringers and others suggesting an out-of-hand party was responsible, with one person concluding: “It’s colourful and happy. No bother.”
