A HORSE rider was airlifted to hospital with head and leg injuries following a fall on the beach on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called out at about 4.05pm to help the woman at Hedderwick Sands, near John Muir Country Park, to the north-west of East Links Family Park.
Coastguard teams from Dunbar and North Berwick were joined by volunteers from Dunbar’s RNLI, as well as police and Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (see below video, by Dunbar Coastguard).
A spokesman for Dunbar Coastguard said: “Helimed 76 landed close to the scene where the casualty was being tended to and airlifted her to onward care.
“If you see someone in difficulty or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, beaches, cliffs, mud or water, call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard.”
