AN OBJECT which washed up at Belhaven Bay saw coastguard teams called out.
The volunteer crews from Dunbar and North Berwick were called to the picturesque bay at about 11am today (Friday).
A spokesman for North Berwick’s coastguard team said: “A member of the public called the coastguard as they were unsure as to what the object was and that it may pose a risk.
“On scene the team were able to confirm this was in fact an old mooring which had been washed ashore and posed no risk.
“The informant did the right thing by calling to advise the coastguard.”
Due to its weight, the old mooring is still sitting on the beach.
The coastguard spokesman added: “If you see someone in difficulty or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, beaches, cliffs, mud or water, call 999 immediately and ask for the coastguard.”
