A TRANENT pensioner who initially pleaded guilty to knocking over a teenage boy at a crossing in Inveresk has changed his plea after seeking legal advice.
Ian Steedman, of Edinburgh Road, is alleged to have driven through a red light and collided with the 15-year-old on November 7 last year.
Steedman is also alleged to have driven dangerously and collided with a stationary vehicle during the incident at Inveresk Road.
The 73-year-old pleaded guilty by letter but defence solicitor Mary Moultrie last week told Edinburgh Sheriff Court that she wanted to retract that plea as her client had not sought legal advice beforehand.
The plea change was accepted and a trial at the Capital court was set down for later this year.
