BOGUS workmen have conned an elderly woman out of hundreds of pounds in Dunbar.
The workmen turned up at the woman’s house on Newhouse Avenue between April 26 and 29.
Constable Gavin Ross said that the men initially turned up offering to carry out basic work on the roof, such as clearing the gutters.
However, while there they damaged the roof and later stole “a low three-figure amount” of money.
The officer confirmed that a number of items had been sent for forensic analysis and added: “A positive line of enquiry is being followed up.”
