TRIBUTES have been paid to a Haddington dad after he was found dead in woods on the outskirts of the town.

Daryl Flockhart's body was found by members of the public in woods at Alderston, to the north of the town, yesterday (Thursday) at 6.30pm.

Poignant tributes have been paid on social media, with a Justgiving page set up to help his family during the difficult time.

The 22-year-old's mum broke the news through a friend.

She said: "I’d like to thank everyone for their help, the community has been amazing.  "This has been extremely difficult and I’m devastated to say but Daryl has been found. 

"He is now at peace and looking down on us.”

Already, more than 250 comments have been left with people paying tribute to Daryl, who went missing on Tuesday.

Aaron Smith said: "RIP Daryl your we’re one my gid mates absolutely gutted can’t believe this thoughts are with family and friend rest in Peace will be looking up on you bro."

Linda Amos described the news as "heartbreaking" and said: "When something like this happens and a young person goes missing you always hope for the best outcome!!! Broken-hearted for you all."

Gary Blyth also paid tribute and said: "Sad sad news, condolences and thoughts for his family at this tragic time.

"RIP Daryl you're a good man gone way too early."

A police spokesperson said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Our thoughts are with Daryl's family and friends at this difficult time."
