THE loss of a peak-time train service between Haymarket and North Berwick has been criticised by commuters.
The 17.04pm train from Haymarket will instead start at Waverley from Monday onwards.
ScotRail responded to complaints on Twitter saying it took the decision “because the service is no longer travelling through from Ayr and was often delayed on the journey through”.
But one commuter tweeted: “Very disappointed in ScotRail. . . so much for thinking about West End commuters.”
Another said: “Can the driver no find his way from Waverley to Haymarket and back?”, while another described the loss of the service as a "shambles".
ScotRail highlighted that there was a direct service from Haymarket to the North Berwick line stations at 5.46pm.
The train service in East Lothian has come under fire repeatedly in recent years, with local Parliamentarians Iain Gray MSP and Martin Whitfield MP lodging a written complaint back in January on behalf of the county covering issues such as overcrowded trains and unreliable services.
