FIVE East Lothian schools are advertising for a permanent headteacher.

Positions at both Macmerry Primary School and Law Primary School have been advertised since last month.

Previous Macmerry headteacher Colette Bonnar moved to Pinkie St Peter’s Primary School, putting former principal teacher at Macmerry Jackie Gentil in the position of acting head.

Law Primary in North Berwick is looking for a new headteacher as Jill Wareham took the decision to retire.

Meanwhile, the headteacher position at St Martin’s RC Primary School in Tranent is being re-advertised, as is the role of a single headteacher for both Humbie and Saltoun Primary Schools, after the schools were unsuccessful in attracting a suitable candidate first time around.

St Martin’s has been looking for a headteacher since May last year and, due to an agreement with the Archdiocese, there is no need for the applicant to be Catholic.

Claire Graham from St Mary’s Primary School in Haddington has been acting headteacher at St Martin’s.

Humbie and Saltoun Primary Schools are also re-advertising after originally being advertised from March 11.
