A KEY route to and from Haddington's Tesco supermarket is now shut for two weeks, with drivers facing a lengthy diversion.
Three-way temporary traffic lights were previously in place at a section of Newton Port between Fortune Avenue and Calder's Lawn - the access road to Tesco - ahead of the closure.
But starting from today (Monday, May 13) and continuing until next Friday (May 24), the section of road has now been closed completely while footpath repairs take place. A signed diversion is in place.
Southbound traffic is being diverted via Victoria Park, Lydgait, Hope Park, Court Street and Market Street to enter Newton Port from the south.
Northbound traffic is being diverted via Market Street, Hardgate, Dunbar Road, Herdmanflatt, Florabank Road and Victoria Park (see below tweet for more diversion route details).
Footpath repairs started today on Newton Port, Haddington from Calder's Lawn (Tesco) to the junction with Fortune Avenue. The road will be closed as part of this 13-24 May weekdays only, with a signed diversion in place. Temporary traffic lights will be in place at other times. pic.twitter.com/s0XWv7ooPs
