EAST Lothian Council is running five information and update sessions about the former Cockenzie Power Station site.

The council, which owns the land at the former power station, is holding sessions on Wednesday, April 24, 3-6pm at the Port Seton Centre; Thursday, April 25, 11am-2pm at the Pennypit Centre, Prestonpans; Thursday, April 25, 4-7pm at Tesco Extra in Musselburgh; Friday, April 26, 4- 7pm in the Co-op at Links Shopping Centre in Prestonpans; and Saturday, April 27, 9am-1pm at Haddington Farmers’ Market on Court Street.

The council said: “It’s an excellent opportunity to find out more about future ambitions for one of East Lothian’s key strategic economic development sites.”

Also next week, Inch Cape is heading to Prestonpans and Port Seton to also discuss the former power station site and the electrical substation it will build on a portion of the site.

Visualisations of the onshore transmission works will be on display with a 3D model of the proposed site; there is a chance to give feedback.

As a part of the Planning Permission in Principle (PPP), the company says it is looking to involve the community and encourage people to submit ideas for the external design, or any artwork surrounding the substation to make it more in keeping with its surroundings and more of a visitor talking point.

The events take place at the Prestonpans Community Centre on Tuesday and at the Port Seton Centre next Thursday (April 25), both 3-8pm.
