A PLAN has been lodged with East Lothian Council to turn a former care home in Musselburgh into two houses.

Edinburgh-based B & Y Developments Ltd wants to change the use of Levenhall Care Home on Hope Place to residential, along with the erection of a garage.

The care home closed in February 2018, after its owners Renaissance Care announced it was too small a home to survive in the current market.

Registered for 23 residents in 20 bedrooms, none of which were ensuite, it latterly had 16 residents.

A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said the planning application was scheduled to be decided by planning officers under the scheme of delegation within the next few weeks. She added that councillors could ask for any application to be taken off the list to be decided at a meeting of the planning committee.
