A DUNBAR funeral business has launched an Easter Egg Appeal for the elderly in East Lothian.

Funeral directors Final Journey are collecting donations of chocolate Easter Eggs from local supermarkets to distribute to various care homes across the county.

Ewan Reynolds, founder and manager, said: “We had done something similar in a previous company I worked for. So, I thought it would be a nice idea to try it again now I have my own business.

“We got in touch with supermarkets across East Lothian and also asked people to donate chocolate eggs and, so far, we have almost 70 eggs with hopes of getting more.

“We’ll be handing them out to local care homes for the staff, the volunteers and, of course, the residents.”

Representatives from the funeral parlour, including Ewan, have already visited Haddington Care Home, Tranent Day Centre and Cairdean House Care Home in Midlothian to hand out the tasty treats.

Ewan said: “People in care homes do such good work and work so hard for the residents, it’s just something that can put a smile on people’s faces.”
