ONE lucky primary seven pupil has been selected as Queen for this year’s Dunbar Civic Week.

A random ballot took place at the town’s primary school, with eight children picked to make up the Royal Court for the annual celebration.

Teagan Daley is this year’s Civic Week Queen and will be joined by Isla McLaughlin, Abby Cowan, Kai Lavery, Kaelan McLaren, Lukas Dulieba, Eden Francis and Anya MacIver.

Civic Week, which dates back to 1970, takes place June 15-23.

A parade starts off from Dunbar Leisure Pool at noon on the opening day. The procession makes its way down High Street and West Port to the Bleachingfield Centre.

After the crowning ceremony there, stalls, sideshows, dance and music performances are among the entertainment for the afternoon.

A full programme of events is being planned, with details to be published on social media, while a printed programme will be sent to every household in the town.

George Robertson, Civic Week co-ordinator, told the Courier: “Civic Week has been well supported by the Dunbar community in the past. We hope everyone will join in and make it an even bigger success this year.”

Meanwhile, Civic Week has also received £1,500 from BeGreen Dunbar.

Mr Robertson added: “We are delighted to receive this award, which comes at a time when East Lothian Council are scaling back their grants for gala days.”
