A PORT Seton man broke into a vehicle and made off with a quantity of medication.

Andrew Strong entered the locked car at Seton Place and stole a bag and the medicine before making his escape.

Strong then went to Cockenzie Newsagents and used a bank card in the name of Nikki Gilroy to fraudulently purchase goods with a value of £11.76.

The 36-year-old thief, of Wemyss House, pleaded guilty to two charges when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Friday.

Not guilty pleas to possessing heroin and to breaking into Ms Gilroy’s home in Cockenzie were accepted by the Crown.

Sentence was deferred to April 1 for the preparation of social work reports.

Strong admitted entering a secure vehicle and stealing a bag and medication at Seton Place, Port Seton, on February 3 or 4 last year.

He also admitted presenting a bank card in the name of Ms Gilroy to Cockenzie Newsagents, Edinburgh Road, and fraudulently purchasing goods to the sum of £11.62.
