A 12-YEAR-OLD girl has been charged after a knife was brought into a Musselburgh school this morning (Thursday).
Police have confirmed that officers were called to Pinkie St Peter's Primary School soon after 9am this morning.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 12-year-old girl has been charged in connection with the possession of an offensive weapon after officers were called to a school in Musselburgh shortly after 9am on Thursday.
“At no point was another pupil or a member of staff threatened or harmed.
“A report will be submitted to the Children’s Reporter and officers continue to liaise with the school and local authority surrounding this.”
An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident this morning at Pinkie St Peter's Primary School.
"At no point was any child in our school community at risk.
"We are cooperating fully with Police Scotland.”
