POLICE have taped off part of a walkway in Haddington to investigate a report of a teenager being sexually assaulted.
Police remain on the scene this afternoon (Wednesday), with a section of the walkway on the west bank of the River Tyne taped off.
Officers have been on the scene for a number of hours, with the path taped off near Tyne Close.
Initially there were reports that a body had been found, but police have now stated this is not the case.
At 4pm, a police spokeswoman said: "Police in East Lothian are investigating a report that an 18-year-old woman was the victim of a sexual assault in the Tyne Close area of Haddington around 11.50pm on Tuesday.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who was in the area around this time, or who has any information which may be relevant, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 0041 of March 27."
