AN INTERIM order banning a Haddington man from shouting and swearing in his home has been issued at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Scott Bennion, of the town’s Riverside Drive, was given an interim anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) recently.

The 49-year-old is banned from shouting, swearing, using aggressive, abusive or intimidating language or behaviour within his home, or permitting or encouraging visitors to do the same such as to cause alarm or distress to other residents of or visitors to Riverside Drive.

In addition, Mr Bennion is banned from “playing a radio, hi-fi or any other sound-producing devices at levels within his property at Riverside Drive which may cause alarm or distress to neighbouring residents or visitors”.

The order also bans Mr Bennion from having more than two visitors to his property at any one time, except for those there in the course of their employment.

A council spokeswoman said: “The council’s safer communities team worked closely with Police Scotland in gathering the appropriate evidence to present to court.

“Mr Bennion’s behaviour, and that of visitors to his property, has had a serious adverse effect on residents of Riverside Drive which has affected their ability to enjoy a quiet and peaceful home life.

“Anyone in East Lothian who is similarly affected by anti-social behaviour can report it via the council’s anti-social behaviour helpline on 01875 824 307.”
