A NEW BBC cooking show could be coming to Prestonpans.

Corner Shop Cook Off is coming to screens across the country to show off the importance of local convenience stores in Scotland.

The new show is presented by actress and musician Clare Grogan, with winner of MasterChef The Professionals Gary Maclean as the resident chef.

Each week, a prominent Scottish chef will guest star, going head to head with Gary, only using ingredients from a selected local convenience store from around the country.

The Day-Today on Redburn Road in Prestonpans has been selected as a possible store to feature on the show and, if it is picked, the BBC portable kitchen will be set up in Prestonpans Town Hall for the event next month.

The BBC said that it wanted the local shop owner and the customers to be the judges, adding: “This means we can really get into the heart of towns all over Scotland and show how essential the local convenience store really is”

If confirmed, Corner Shop Cook Off will be filmed on April 11 and 13 in Prestonpans Town Hall.
