THE SNP has announced its candidate for the upcoming Haddington and Lammermuir ward council by-election.
Lorraine Glass will be up against Neal Black (Labour), Stuart Crawford (Scottish Liberal Democrats) and Craig Hoy (Scottish Conservative and Unionist) at the by-election, which is due to take place on May 9.
The by-election was triggered following the resignation of Conservative councillor Brian Small.
Ms Glass was constituency support manager for George Kerevan MP and currently works for Joanna Cherry QC MP as her senior case worker.
She said: “I am delighted to be selected as the SNP candidate for the upcoming by-election.
“If elected I will be part of a demanding opposition to the Labour administration, who with the support of the Tories are raising rents and council tax, closing our sports crèche and stopping our children’s music tuition.
“My priority will always be to stand up for constituents.”
The mum of three daughters was born in Haddington and has lived most of her life in the town, having been educated at Knox Academy before going on to Napier University and gaining a degree in accounting and a post-graduate diploma in psychotherapy.
She worked extensively with homeless people and people with mental health illness as a housing support manager.
