MORE than 30 car batteries have been stolen from North Berwick's recycling centre.

Police are investigating the incident, which took place at about 9.30pm on Tuesday at the Heugh Road facility.

Two unidentified men were seen arriving in a white, short wheel base van, entering the site and stealing about 32 car batteries.

Car batteries are among the items that can be left at the centre to be recycled.

The van then drove off towards Whitekirk.

CCTV enquiries show a number of vehicles driving past the area as the theft was taking place.

The stolen batteries have a line of blue spray paint on them.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Constable Kris MacLeod of Haddington Police Station on 101, quoting incident number 0551 of March 13.
