THREE men have been arrested in connection with an attempted break-in in Musselburgh.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal following the alleged incident on Stoneyhill Place in the early hours of Saturday.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Thanks to a vigilant member of the public and a quick response from local officers, three men were arrested in the Newhailes area of Musselburgh shortly before 4am on Saturday.

“This was in connection with a report of an attempted break-in to a car on Stoneyhill Place, which was received earlier that morning.

“The three, aged 35 to 48, were subsequently charged in connection with this.”

The spokesman added: “Following search activity relating to this incident, three pairs of designer sunglasses and a pair of binoculars, which are believed to be stolen, were seized. If anyone is missing sunglasses or binoculars, contact Police Scotland via 101 and quote incident number 0622 of March 2.

“Although many of us might suddenly be recalling an expensive pair of specks that we're miraculously lost, you may be asked to prove ownership – so serious suggestions only!”
