RESIDENTS are being urged to be vigilant after potentially bogus workmen were spotted in Musselburgh.
Police issued a warning on social media after two men were spotted on the town’s Mayfield Place.
The men were spotted approaching properties and offering to carry out work.
A police spokeswoman stressed that no money had changed hands but urged people to be aware of bogus callers.
The first man was described as 50-59 years of age, balding, slim, with an English accent and wearing a high-visibility jacket.
The second man was described as 5’10 and was also wearing a high-visibility orange vest.
A white Ford Transit, registration ST08 KCG, with ladders on the roof was also spotted.
A police spokesman said: “If you have any information as to the identity of these males, please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1627 of February 26.
“Alternatively you can provide information anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
