A woman had to be rescued from the frozen River Tyne in Haddington this morning after going to the aid of a dog on the ice.
Sadly, the dog could not be saved. The woman was helped off the frozen river by firefighters.
And there were also reports of children playing on the river.
Police Scotland have told residents: “Don't go onto a frozen river. There's still a current flowing underneath and the surface won't look any different whether it's thick or thin.”
No other details about the rescue are known at this stage.
