A NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD man will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court after allegedly throwing eggs at cars on the A1.
The teenager has been arrested and charged with culpable and reckless conduct following the alleged incident yesterday (Wednesday) evening.
A number of drivers saw someone throwing objects at passing vehicles, near Macmerry.
A police spokesman said the objects were later found to be eggs and none of the vehicles were damaged.
Sergeant Scott Nicolson, from Haddington Police Station, said that throwing eggs at cars was "highly irresponsible", adding: "The consequences could have been catastrophic, particularly given the sub-zero temperatures at that time."
The man was released on an undertaking and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.
