THE pool at Musselburgh Sports Centre was closed yesterday (Monday) evening after a child defecated in the pool.
A spokeswoman for enjoyleisure, which manages the facility, said: "Regrettably we had to close the pool at Musselburgh Sports Centre on Monday at short notice around 4.45pm.
"This was following a faecal accident.
"In line with our protocols and health and safety requirements, the pool was closed in order to complete a full treatment cycle.
"We fully appreciate the frustration and disappointment this closure caused; however we also know that patrons will understand and accept this approach is necessary in such circumstances."
The spokeswoman said that the pool reopened at 11am today (Tuesday).
A post from Musselburgh Amateur Swimming Club on Twitter said: "Session cancelled – tonight's session is unfortunately not running today due to an issue at the pool. We apologise for the short notice but this is outwith our control. We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday."
