COASTGUARD teams from Dunbar and North Berwick were called out on Tuesday evening after reports of a missing person.

The two East Lothian teams received a call at about 6.30pm and were asked to head for Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders, where they would be joined by colleagues from the town.

Information provided by Police Scotland was a request to search coastal paths near the town.

A spokesman for North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team said: “We were able to dispatch a full team of 10 Coastguard rescue officers from North Berwick to assist.

“Whilst en-route to the incident, some good news was passed that the individual had been traced by police, allowing the team to stand down and return to station.

“Coastguard Rescue teams are trained in search in line with national search protocols, allowing us to work hand in hand with our partner agencies such as police.

“Remember – if you see someone in danger or something of concern on the water, cliffs or shoreline, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
