A MAN was taken to hospital following a four-vehicle crash on the A1 on Monday evening.
The accident, near Old Craighall, saw both of the eastbound lanes blocked at about 5.30pm.
One lane reopened about an hour later, with the road fully reopened at about 7.10pm.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland told the Courier: “Three of the vehicles were recovered and the road was fully reopened around 7.10pm.
“A man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by the ambulance service with non-life-threatening injuries.”
The incident caused severe congestion on the A1 and in Musselburgh - particularly on Monktonhall Terrace - as many county commuters on their way home tried to avoid the A1 queues by leaving the carriageway at Old Craighall and diverting via the Honest Toun.
