A BOXING Day assault in Haddington left a man in hospital with “serious” head injuries.
Police are investigating the attack, which took place on the town’s High Street at about 9.10pm yesterday (Wednesday).
The 28-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh before being released after treatment.
Detective Constable Ryan Gilhooly said: “This was a serious assault and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch to help us establish the full circumstances of what happened.
“High Street has a number of takeaways which were open and we believe that there would have been groups of people around at the time of the incident.
“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3564 of December 26, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
