A MAN attacked his partner in Prestonpans after missing a bus.

Iain Black and his partner had been at a garden party in the town and were walking home at about 11pm when the violence erupted.

Both had been drinking vodka and beer at the all-day party and an argument was sparked after the pair missed a bus.

Prosecutor Bruce McCrossan told Edinburgh Sheriff Court that Black, 51, lashed out when his partner said she wanted to get a taxi.

The fiscal said that Black grabbed the woman and threw her to the ground at Schaw Road, Prestonpans, last July.

Black, of Old Craighall, then sat on top of the woman and began punching her in the face.

Passers-by were forced to intervene and the police were called out to deal with the altercation.

Black said to officers he had just “lost it” during the row with the woman after he claimed she said “f**** you” to him.

The woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where it was found she had suffered facial bruising and a fractured shoulder during the attack.

Black pleaded guilty to the offence at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Norman McFadyen deferred sentence to January 31 for the preparation of social work reports.
