CIGARETTES were stolen in the early hours of St Andrew’s Day after East Linton’s Co-op store was targeted by thieves.

Police are investigating the incident, which took place at about 1.55am on the village’s High Street.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland encouraged members of the public to get in touch with any information.

She said: “A vehicle was driven up to the premises and three men entered, taking a quantity of cigarettes and making off in a Black Audi SQ5.

“The vehicle was later recovered in the Saughton area of Edinburgh.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen anything suspicious, or have the seen the vehicle.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0232 of the Friday November 30 or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
