FANTASTIC food and top teamwork has helped a North Berwick restaurant secure back-to-back national awards.

Osteria, on the town’s High Street, was crowned Scotland’s Best Italian Restaurant at the Scottish Italian Awards in Glasgow.

Angelo Cocchia, owner of the business for the last 12 years, praised everyone at the restaurant for ensuring they retained their title.

He said: “It is not just down to me but the team in the restaurant.

“From the kitchen porter to the front of house, it is for them as well to be recognised.

“It is everybody together – a good team makes a winner, it is not a one-man band.”

The victory marks the third time the restaurant has lifted the prize, having won the award for the first time in 2015.

The Main Course, of Gullane’s Main Street, finished as runner-up in the same category.

Angelo and the restaurant were toasting further success when son-in-law and chef at the business, Daniele De Marco, was named runner-up in Scotland’s Cuoco (chef) of the Year award.
