A MAN was punched repeatedly as he lay on the ground during an incident in Haddington.
Matthew Wilson, of the town’s Artillery Park, assaulted Robert Kelly by punching him to the head and then pushing him against a car, causing the man to fall to the ground.
Wilson then went on to repeatedly punch his victim as he lay on the ground at the town’s Market Street on September 24 last year.
Wilson, 36, had previously pleaded guilty to the assault when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and he returned to court on Monday for sentencing.
Sheriff Norman McFadyen heard that Wilson had not been in trouble since the incident and fined Wilson £450.
