TWO seven-year-old boys were taken to hospital after a section of roof collapsed at Tranent Parish Church Hall last night (Tuesday).
More than 40 parents and children were at the building for a meeting of the town's Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
The incident, which took place at about 6.55pm, saw emergency services called out, with the building closed for further notice.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland told the Courier: "Police in East Lothian were called to a building in the Church Street area of Tranent at around 7pm on Tuesday following a report that a portion of the building’s roof had collapsed.
"Emergency services attended and a number of people were treated at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service for minor injuries.
"Two seven-year-old boys were taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh, as a precaution.
"East Lothian Council protective services have been informed and are making relevant enquiries."
Church of Scotland representatives are due to meet with the Health and Safety Executive this morning (Wednesday).
