THREE would-be robbers have been caught on CCTV attempting to break-in to cars parked in an industrial estate in Cockenzie.

The thieves, who travelled on bicycles, targeted Whin Park Industrial Estate close to midnight on Sunday evening.

One business owner told the Courier: "It's not the first time this has happened but hopefully it's the last."

The CCTV has been passed to police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in East Lothian are investigating an attempted break-in to a premises at Whin Park Industrial Estate in Cockenzie, which took place around 11.45pm on Sunday, 7th October.

"Officers are eager to trace three males on bikes and urge anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in the area, or who has information which may be relevant, to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0004 of 8th October.

"Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
