EAST Lothian's Willie Innes has been shortlisted for Leader of the Year at the Councillor Achievement Awards Scotland.
Councillor Innes, leader of East Lothian Council since 2012 and a councillor since 1988, is one of five council leaders from across Scotland in the running for the coveted award.
He is up against John Alexander (Dundee City Council), Joe Cullinane (North Ayrshire Council), Douglas Lumsden (Aberdeen City Council) and James Stockan (Orkney Islands Council). Awards will be handed out at Edinburgh’s City Chambers on November 29.
Labour's Mr Innes, who represents the Preston Seton Gosford ward, returned to lead East Lothian Council this June after taking a leave of absence in August last year due to ill health.
