A BUSY Tranent road is set to become a one-way street to traffic by next month.

New Row, which links Elphinstone Road and Bridge Street, has long been a source of frustration to motorists, with drivers parking on both sides of the road, leaving little room for vehicles to pass.

But from next month, vehicles will only be able to travel from east to west.

A council spokesperson said: “It’s expected that the road will become one-way by early November or earlier.

"All signage will be in place before the road becomes fully one-way.”
