LIGHTING could soon be introduced to the garden at North Berwick’s war memorial.

Plans have been drawn up by North Berwick Environment Trust (NBET) for the installation of LED lights at the garden, on the corner of Quality Street and East Road.

David Kellock, environment trust chairman, wrote to the town’s community council to gauge their views.

In his letter, Mr Kellock explained why NBET was keen to carry out the work, adding: “The main reason for this proposal is to lighten what is a dark area particularly outwith the summer season and extend the timing when people can see what is always a lovely layout. NBET has received a small donation for that purpose.

“The second stage of this work is to install tasteful lighting for the war memorial itself.”

Community councillors welcomed the idea.
