NUMEROUS complaints of youths damaging the course at Haddington Golf Club are being investigated by police.
Reports had been made to police earlier this summer, with the town’s community and police partnership (CAPP) identifying the issue as one of its priorities.
Members heard from former Haddington community officer Lynn Black about the issue last month.
She said: “Unfortunately I have to report back that it has not stopped and we are still getting calls from staff at the club, residents and people walking by. We are still getting reports of damage to the greens and obviously the fire service, speaking to my colleagues there, are still getting regular calls.”
Damage at the golf course has been focused around land near the 10th hole, with fires being set in a strip of woodland which separates the golf course from the nearby skate park and 3G football pitch, off Whittingehame Drive.
A section of the woodland has already been thinned out and officers have been keeping an eye on the area in recent weeks.
