I have to say that I think Celtic have a fabulous chance to go and make an impact in the Europa League. The draw has been relatively favourable to them - not that I think it will be easy. But I do think that Brendan Rodgers’ side are capable of qualifying for the next stage of the tournament beyond Christmas. There has been a bit of negativity around the club but I think the performance against Rangers dispelled a lot of that. There is no doubt that Celtic have kicked it up a level and I expect that as the season goes on you will see them continue to do that. Thursday night’s game against Rosenborg is massive. It gives Celtic the chance to put down a marker in the tournament because it will be crucial to get off to a flying start and also to collect points from your home games. The performance against Rangers for me just underlined how far ahead Celtic are. The transfer window and the Champions League cast something of a cloud over the club but I do think when you get back to focussing on the playing side of things that this is a team who are capable of going out and getting results. Rosenborg is a team that Celtic are in danger of becoming over familiar with give how often the teams have met in the last year. The Europa League might not offer the same glamour of the Champions League but it is a European competition and you want to go and make a mark in it.
