MUSSELBURGH Monarchs BMX club needs helpers today.

An appeal on the club's Facebook page said: "We are looking for a small army of volunteers to help finishing off the BMX track this Sunday from 10am.

"This is a race standard track that will serve the cycling community of the Lothians for years to come and it has plenty to offer all levels of cyclists.

"The layout with the heavy machinery is all done and now the manual surfacing is ready to go. All the materials are on site and we just need lots of volunteers to help spread the surface material.

"The task is large, OK it's massive, but with enough hands on Sunday the job can be done.

"Once the surface is on the track will be rideable and if we get enough people there on Sunday we reckon it could be completed.

"The whole project has been done on a shoestring budget using every penny of the club's funds, track material from East Lothian Council and most importantly hard graft by the clubs members.

"Please come and help if you can, and if you have any tools such as a shovel, rake or a wheelbarrow then please bring them if you can.

"We'll have lots of tools there but if we get a large turnout then the more the merrier."
