ORGANISERS of this year’s North Berwick RNLI lifeboat fete have declared the event a success, with more than £2,000 raised on Saturday.
With poor weather predicted, they decided on the morning of the event to site the stalls in the lifeboat shed on Victoria Road instead of on Elcho Green as had been planned.
In the end, the rain stayed away and the annual colourful parade along High Street was able to take place, while some stalls were set up outside after all.
Rhona Meikle, press officer for North Berwick RNLI, told the Courier: “Considering the last-minute changes, it was a very successful day and everyone was delighted.
“We had to change to the shed because of the forecast and when you see the weather we got the next day on Sunday, we were lucky really. We still managed to have the parade and everyone enjoyed themselves and we raised more than £2,000, which was ideal in the conditions.”
She thanked all those involved in making the event a success once more this year.
